Hindi, written in the Devanagari script, is one of the several languages spoken widely in different areas of Indian sub-continent. Hindi draws the bulk of its vocabulary from Sanskrit and is known for being phonetic; it is pronounced as it is written. The pronunciation of Hindi words is distinct and independent. There are different ways of pronouncing different letters. For example, Hindi consonants are pronounced in four different ways – Aspirated, non- aspirated, Dental and retroflex sounds and these are arranged into different categories based on their phonetic properties. A sentence in Hindi language follows the Subject-Object-Verb or SOV structure. One of the most interesting facts about Hindi is the presence of its multiple regional variants called Dialects.
