The moment we are born, we begin to embrace the environment around us and our journey of learning starts as soon as we breathe our first breath. When we read the work ‘Learning’, we generally imagine books, academic skills, assessments and what not! But learning is much more than this. It encompasses all the important life skills like behavior, decision-making ability, understanding emotions, relating to things, communication, focus, preferences, critical thinking, making connections, self-control etc., that we acquire through experience.
Between the age of 1-3 years, kids tend to learn and absorb information at a faster pace. This time period is crucial for development of basic understanding and formation of important brain connections in kids. These are called developmental milestones which make toddlers aware of their surroundings and capable of responding accordingly. Above and beyond all considerations, these developmental milestones build foundation for future development and success.
This is why, it is vital to start educating them at an early age and creating an environment for them that promotes learning. We understand how important the learning process is, which is why we have tailored our curriculum keeping in mind the different needs of learners by consulting child education specialists.
Our curriculum is entirely based on the developmental milestones and focuses more on the wholesome learning and overall development of the toddler. There are different course plans that parents can choose as per the need of the toddler and proceed as per their convenience.
These are the skills that toddlers acquire from daily routine activities. Skills like behavior, self-control, making connections, developing focus, self-awareness, time management, decision making are acquired at an early age and it is very important to educate toddlers about them.
These skills mainly include physical actions that involve the engagement of smaller muscles of the hands, fingers and wrist which make toddlers perform certain actions like holding, pinching, grasping and gripping. Some of the examples include clapping hands, scribbling, putting on shoes, building block towers etc.
These skills include physical actions that involve the engagement of larger muscles in different body parts like arms, legs, torso etc. which make toddlers perform certain activities like jumping over a line, kicking a ball, throwing an object, bending, crawling, stretching, walking and running, climbing stairs etc.
A toddler’s language skills include speaking sentences or phrases with 2-3 words, use pronouns to address themselves, state names of people around them, imitate voices, responding to simple queries, speak about 50-100 words depending on the age, be understood by family, follow simple directions etc.
These skills include different activities which make toddler memorize certain actions like counting everyday items, identifying different colors, separating different objects based on their type or color, matching similar objects, finger painting, identifying different shapes, identifying surrounding beings like birds, stray dogs, pet animals etc.
This category include multiple activities like that help in the development of brain and let toddlers think, explore different things and ideas and figure them out. For example, counting, hiding and finding objects, sorting objects of different shapes, sizes and colors, imitate the language of grown-ups, craft activities, reciting rhymes and many more.
The socio-emotional development of the toddlers is crucial in terms of how they manage their emotions, respond in certain kind of situations and how they interact with familiar people and strangers. The lessons that toddlers will learn are mainly centered around activities like sharing, saying “yes” or “no”, expressing what they are feeling, making connections with people, managing themselves etc.
In toddlers, certain pattern or set of behaviors are witnessed some of which permanent as they grow up. Thus, it is very important to monitor these behaviors and make them aware of the difference between “Rights” and “Wrongs”. These organized patterns of behavior make them who they are and make them distinctive.
Since the day we are born, we make use of our senses in every activity that we perform. These include all the activities that foster and stimulate a toddler’s senses. The activities included in this category will mainly be centered around Hearing, Touching, sight, movement and smell.
